If you are a horror lover, whether movies, stories, or games, this one seems to be a perfect match for you.
A small, secretive group is planning to hack an unethical supersystem, and it’s your duty to execute a malware attack using those acquired field kits to destabilise and destroy the entity.

The short horror game is developed by Mike Klubnika, is based on a dystopian timeline. An interesting concept is the usp of this game series.
S.P.L.I.T Video Game Review:
S.P.L.I.T. is a hacking game of the horror genre, based on a command-line interface. If you are not familiar with the command-line interface, then in the beginning, it can be tricky for you.
However, you don’t need to learn coding or commands at a pro level to play the game. According to my experience, you can learn how to command within a short time while playing S.P.L.I.T.
Worth mentioning, there are some help commands in the terminal which can advise you on what you can do in order to fulfil your goals.
S.P.L.I.T. is a combination of an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) and a terminal in which you can run programs and executables.
Axel, more precisely your character, is accompanied by two more characters, Sarah and Viktor, as your guides, are going on a mission to hack and destroy a mysterious supersystem.
You’ll only have a piece of hardware and some code to hack the system and unleash the malware attack.
When an intense storyline is accompanied by exciting background music, it creates a sense of dread and desperation as you go further by navigating through DOS commands.
Inside the terminal, you may feel a little lonely and scared, especially when the commands don’t come automatically to you and you are fully focused on the given tasks at hand.
If you have already played Hacknet games before, you don’t have to wait long to get used to S.P.L.I.T.
But without any prior experience of hacking games, either on desktops or mobiles, you may feel the game tricky or difficult at first, but as always, with time, you’ll be comfortable with it.
Story & Pacing:
You and the team of hackers infect an advanced system with malware and viruses. These are not as simple as you may think. A slow-paced story and chats create difficulties for you while moving forward.
The pace of the game will be decided by your ability to type CMD lines. The chatlog area may work slowly because of your inability to provide a quick response. Even pre-determined texts move more slowly than expected.
Gameplay:
The gameplay is as cryptic as the storyline. The gameplay doesn’t require a mouse; all controls are directed through the keyboard.
You, as a player, may use these actions anytime and anywhere to check your progress and search for what you are looking for.
However, S.P.L.I.T. is not a difficult game. The game anonymously gives you hints about what tasks are in your hand, how to complete your mission, and what challenges you can expect in the next stages.
The communication between Axel (yourself), Sarah, and Viktor is very exciting as the chat gives you a different direction and excitement when you feel alone inside the terminal.
Your response will be revealed letter by letter with every key you press, and honestly, this is very irritating as you need to type a lot of gibberish words just to get a full reply on your screen.
Such efforts and waste of energy could be minimised while chatting or communicating by replying from your side through texts.
If you ignore the shortcomings, S.P.L.I.T. is a very interesting, brief, and engaging game. I enjoyed pretty much while playing this game as the ending is directed to two different but equally unsettling endings.
In the end, I want to convey that the price is good enough for a game that is less than one hour long. If you want to try something new, you can definitely try this game.
